I have to say, there's a lot of admiration that can be had with anyone involved in this.
Obviously, Brendan: for being gutsy enough to come out in such a seemingly "toxic" environment.
Brian: for seeming to handle his son's sexuality with both dignity and acceptance.
TSN: for airing a story they realized would not only slash their "credibility" to quite a few watchers, but also challenge the views of virtually their entire subject matter.
So it was certainly refreshing, but only time will tell if that's all it will provide - a brief refreshment as opposed to a lasting impact.
And while I'm at it, I just thought I'd point something interesting out about the comments for the video:
Obviously, I'm just speaking from experience, but it seems to me that on a surprising number of YouTube videos, any comments besmirching homosexuals and homosexuality are usually marked as spam; hence, given several Thumbs Down. On the other hand in these videos, comments dismissing the above claims or telling the straight "human truth" are typically given a few or so Thumbs Up.
Interestingly, it seems to work opposite on this video in particular. That, if anything, should tell you what sort of watching audience this deals with.
