Yet Another Greeting

Postby ryan8029 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 3:08 pm

Now, before I say anything else I'm just going to warn you all that I'm horrible at introducing myself via text. With that being said,hi I'm Ryan. I'm 18 years old. I'm currently living in Utah, but in the fall I'll be going to Chicago to study film (I seem to have at least that in common with a lot people on this board). I've never actually been a member of a forum before, so forgive me if my etiquette isn't what it should be. I decided to join this particular one because I feel having grown up where I did and being the stereotypical gay guy I am (and no, it's not a fake personality. It's one I've been cursed with since I was a small child) , I will have some relevant views to share with this community. I'm quite looking forward to sharing and discussing them all with you. :)

I just realized I should have named this Yet Another Introduction. I apologize. My mind is never where it should be.

its okay :) This was my first major forum experience too :D
As far as the stereotype goes, I have a friend who is the image of the stereotype also but that's who he naturally is. And you know, that's perfectly fine as long as that's who you are :) People shouldn't have to feel pressured into being someone they are not.
I hope you don't truly feel cursed to have the personality that you do, because I think those who are genuinely similar to the stereotype can be a lot of fun sometimes even if I have a hard time keeping up o.o lol But in all fairness, on the flip side my stereotype friend has a hard time keeping up when I start geeking out and talking about Star Wars/Trek and Geology stuff c.c

Sorry for the random personal spillage of random information :P

Welcome Ryan! Don't worry about forum etiquette; the only real etiquette there is to follow around here is "don't be a jerk" which you will have no problem with. :)

To echo what butterbridge said, this forum is totally open and welcoming to stereotypically-behaving LGBT people, despite the potentially misleading title of "Anti-Stereotypical." We're more Pro-Acceptance than anything else, so a stereotypical gay is just as welcome and valued here as a non-stereotypical one. You'll fit right in!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. You're all so sweet. :D to butterbridge: I know I said I'm quite stereotypical, which I am. I'm very soft spoken and one of my most guilty pleasures is playing with make up, but I'm pretty geeky too. I was raised on Star Wars and I've read more Lord of the Rings mythology then I care to admit. Not to mention my manga addiction and gadget fetish. To Feroz: you're from Utah?! *hugs* It's a small world. I don't want to be stereotypical on an anti stereotypical site but are you Mormon? I only ask because other gay Mormon experiences are fascinating to me and something I feel would make a really good discussion.

Hi Ryan!

Everyone seems to have beaten me to the punch, but I echo the sentiments. I have plenty of friends who aren't gay that fit aspects of the stereotype. If that's who you are, that's nothing to be ashamed of. We look forward to your perspective. :)
